Tyler Shields's idea of consumption is one that has split meanings. On one hand he offers an obvious and literal meaning of consumption, in the food and drinks used in the images. Yet he also portrays a more challenging meaning, in the use of high end brands to convey mundane, everyday items, such as popcorn and Champagne. By naming his collection "Indulgence", he is furthering this idea of material consumption, and continues to challenge the primary perception of the audience. In the first photograph, Louis Vuitton Champagne, the action of the model advances this concept, as she is entirely consumed by the substance, in this case Champagne. Likewise in the second image, Shields offers this idea of complete expenditure, through the body language and facial expressions of the model. The double meaning of consumption is expressed in the sophistication of the popcorn box and the way in which she is holding it, furthering the high-end feel to the image.
